The Platformer Release was announced February 24, 2015 on the main server. It would be followed by a major overhaul in the 2D Mode Revamp the following November.

Trivia[]
- The release featured an early version of the platformer game type, which was very different from its later version:
- Build mode was virtually identical to that of the classic project type
- In-game physics were the same as in the classic type
- Players were allowed free movement about the X, Y, and Z axes: the central limitation was camera movement
- Using ranged weapons was quite difficult due to limitations in aiming
- The following 2D Mode Revamp largely rendered previous platformer games unplayable simply by restricting players to the X and Y axes
- The platformer game type would ultimately be removed without any plans for reimplementation
